Project – digitize WWII photos

My grandfather in uniform

Today I have made a start with a new project. I am going to digitize all WWII photos and documents I own that belonged to my grandfather (on mothers side). His name was A. v. Herwijnen, born on 03 october 1925 in Gouda , he served 1946-1949 in Indonesia at the "Verbinding 1ste compagnie"

The things I have include a full photo album he made himself (!!) , his medal, memorial book, chrismast cards from 1946 and 1947 he send to my grandmother and more. It involves a lot of scanning and correcting but if I it is not done soon the photos will be lost forever. The age is starting to show, some photos are almost gone already.

Some stories, some things should not get lost over time....

UPDATE 28-04-2012

It is finished ! Finally all photos are scanned, cropped and uploaded. :)

Aikido docu from a scientific and sceptic point of view :)

Published on January 8, 2012 in Aikido

An episode of the program Samurai Spirit  where Kyokushin Karate practitioner and professional fighter Nicholas Pettas is exploring traditional Japanese budo. This one is about Aikido and takes the usual scepticism from people who see it for the first time and say its fake, and give a bit of a scientific explanation to it.
