Today I wandered trough the “Groene Jonker” at Zevenhoven/Nieuwkoop. Its a small area from Natuurmonumenten (Dutch nature preservation org.) that used to be plain farmlands but is converted to a wetlands (swamp) area.
The number of birds there is amazing, many rare species can be found there.
I got very lucky, I saw Lepelaars (Spoonbills), Steltkluten (Stilts), Rietgors (Reed Bunting), a baby Waterral (Water Rail) and many more common birds.
One very amazing nice area if you like birds, very nice to find a swamp like that in the middle of the over-cultivated grasslands !
One funny thing, google maps still shows the area as farmland as it was before 2007/2008
